Mumbai win the toss and field

Mumbai Indians will look to snap a two-game losing streak against the Punjab Kings after captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first in their Indian Premier League Clash at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Wednesday.

Coming off the back of a victory in each of their last matches, both Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians will aim to keep riding that wave of momentum as the tournament reaches its business end.

Having lost their last two encounters against the Kings, Mumbai Indians will be looking to turn their fortunes around as they go in search of a win on the road in this year’s edition of the tournament.

The Kings meanwhile have a good record of late against the Mumbai side, having won three of their last five encounters, including a double last year while losing one and tying one match in the 2020 edition.

In their last encounter, at the Wankhede earlier in the season, it was a run-fest as the Kings bashed 214 in their allotted overs before castling the Indians for 201 in their reply.

Akash Madhwal comes into the Mumbai ranks to replace the injured Riley Meredith, while Matthew Short and Nathan Ellis will replace Atharva Taide and Kagiso Rabada respectively for the Kings.

The clash could well be decided by the willow as the Kings boast some solid batting depth in their ranks while the Mumbai team’s batters have hit form at just the right time.
